Can You Get a Good Chest by Bench Pressing?

So can you actually get a good chest buy bench pressing? In this post,  I’m going to be answering exactly that.

The bench press is one of the most used exercises of all time. It’s probably the most used piece of equipment in the gym. When you think of the gym, a lot of the time, the bench press comes to mind. It’s a staple exercise and one that many people do.

But can you actually build an aesthetic looking chest by benching?

In short, yes, you can build a good chest by bench pressing.

So what qualifies as a good chest? I think it’s pretty obvious. a could chest is something that’s well rounded and grown.

A bench press has something in common with all the other exercises,  it breaks down the muscles. And that’s exactly how you build muscles. So you definitely can build an incredible chest with the bench.

Think about the arm curl,  many people build very big biceps by doing that. Why do they build really big biceps by doing that? Because they’re breaking down the muscle fibres and their muscle fibres come back stronger and bigger.

It’s the same concept with the bench press,  you’re breaking down your  chest muscle fibres and they’re coming back stronger and bigger. It’s a simple as that. What you need to do is keep up this process. There’s really no rocket science here or any secret.

However, you shouldn’t simply bench press. You need to change your exercises or your muscles will get used to them. It’s like Arnold said,  you need to shock the muscles. If you’re doing the same exercises over and over again, you won’t be able to shock them into growth because they would have become used to the exercise.

So don’t just use the bench to increase your chest gains. Mix it up.

You should also be thinking about power and bench pressing. Try to go up at least every two weeks when benching.  If you’re hitting a plateau, it’s probably because you’re not eating enough.
